Orange and turmeric tea

Turmeric is a spice of Asian origin that is essential in the preparation of curries. This spice is closely linked to the tradition of India, not only in gastronomy but also for its medicinal properties and its use in rituals, such as the Holud Kota, a prenuptial ceremony where married women paint the face and body of the bride. with a mask of this spice, to leave your skin bright and radiant for the wedding.

In addition to providing flavor as a condiment, turmeric has many properties that contribute to health. Its active ingredient is curcumin, which has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and hepatoprotective action. It is also used to combat stomach upset, gas and digestion problems.

Today I share with you this recipe for an Orange and Turmeric tea, super invigorating and very tasty.

  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp of honey
  • Splash of orange juice

In a mortar we make a paste with honey, turmeric and ginger, until there are no lumps left. Place this preparation in a cup and cover with hot water. We finish with a good splash of fresh orange juice and if we want a pinch of ground pepper.

The orange juice softens the slight bitterness giving a smoother and more flavorful tea, ideal to drink daily and enjoy all the benefits of turmeric.
